They recently switched from Vietnamese to Chinese food. And I use the term "Chinese" very, very loosely. The good: the food is ready very quickly. It's also very cheap. Additionally, if you're looking for a nice, quiet place to go, where no one will ever find you, this is it, as I have never seen anyone in there, at all. The bad: the food is the same processed junk you'll find at any other sketchy place that serves heavily Americanized Chinese food. Deep fried meats, served with fried rice, and topped with sickeningly sweet sauces. Any traces of the old Vietnamese menu are completely gone. The questionable: the owners' dog has free reign of the store. Seriously. Don't get me wrong, it's a friendly dog, but isn't that some sort of health code violation? Overall: not worth the money or effort.

The food was delicious and very inexpensive. There is a standard Chinese food menu that you wound find anywhere, and an extensive Vietnamese menu as well. Not an elegant place, but one of the better tasting places I've been.

Great food, no getting around that. Sometimes the owners a little pushy about how you eat their food. They made do things that seem odd to Americans for example insist that the spring rolls are eaten with a particular sauce when you prefer another. If you want excellent vietnamese food, however, this is one of the best in Saint Louis. Their Shaking Beef is *amazing*. They *are* generally dead, however if you go in a Sunday it's packed with Vietnamese people. I think this is how they stay afloat.

The food was filling and edible, but was very bland. The crab Rangoon was the best part of my meal. It was crispy and delicious.

Rex's seems to be on it's way out. They have stopped serving breakfast altogether, stopped delivering food and when I went in to place a carry out order: 1. It was dead 2. The owner told me most of the items on the menu were no longer available 3. The Owner told me that the items available will cost more now 4. The Owner said that the prices weren't as marked, and it seemed like he was making up the prices as he went along. Business is slow, food supplies are going up, but lack of consistency will be Rex's ultimate undoing. Vietnamese food is still good at Rex's, but that may be the only benefit to having the two old brothers who used to own it sell. Times have changed and Rex's days are numbered.
